About My Wellness Lifestyle Blog

This site is all about helping you create a wellness lifestyle that works for you. Not just physically, but for all aspects of your life…mentally, emotionally, and spiritually too. And that’s important, because all these pieces interact with each other to determine health and vitality.

Cultivating an Intentional Wellness Lifestyle

An intentional wellness lifestyle brings the power of your intention into the process, so you’re more likely to achieve your goals. It aligns all your choices with your intention to live with health and balance. That includes words, thoughts and beliefs, not just actions. When we develop the skills and mindset that help us relate to our own self and the world around us in the healthiest way possible, whole-self wellness evolves intuitively.

Every week, you’ll find a new article with valuable tips, insights, information and inspiration here on my blog. Or, you can get it delivered to your inbox by subscribing to my newsletter.

As a bonus, you’ll receive my free MP3 Guided Meditation for Intentional Wellness when you sign up. This is a powerful way to start your day with clear intention for the health and well-being of your whole self. You can subscribe easily with the form below…

A Bit About Me

I’ve worn a lot of hats in my life. While none of them define me, they’ve all contributed to my unique take on life.

Professionally, I’ve been a yoga instructor and yoga therapist. I’ve founded and directed operations for the first holistic, neuroscience & mindfulness-based treatment center for addiction in Texas. I’ve administered a holistic chiropractic wellness center. And, I’ve founded an event production company with which I still work to produce live music, yoga, and visual arts events that promote conscious evolution.

On a personal level, I’m a longtime practitioner of yoga, mindfulness, and meditation. I’m mother to a wonderful son, wife to my high school sweetheart, and adoring attendant to three rescue cats (who’ve captured my heart while commandeering my home).

In all of these roles, and through all the ups, downs, and crazy twists of my life, I’ve come to value a simple truth. I might even call it my defining truth: happiness and wellness are sustained through conscious cultivation.

In other words, these desirable states of being don’t just fall into our laps and stay with us. They require consistent effort and intention. Even on the days when we don’t feel like it. Maybe especially on the days when we don’t feel like it.

But with regular cultivation, we really can walk through life with the peace of contentment, gratitude and joy. We can find our way through times of struggle with courage, faith, and resilience. We can feel good in body, mind and spirit day after day.

My Goal

With this blog, and my upcoming book Plant Your Root, I aim to share the insights and wisdom I’ve gained through many years of practice, research, and personal & professional experience. In doing so, I hope to inspire others to develop their own intentional wellness lifestyle.

I’d love to hear your feedback and unique perspective, so please join in the conversation and comment on any posts that speak to you. And share with your friends so they can join in too. Together we can spread the intentions and support each other on our journey.

A Little Peek Into My Wellness Lifestyle…

I discovered yoga and meditation in my early twenties. I’m forty-five now, so I’ve been on this journey for a long while. Yoga and meditation are what keep me balanced, happy, healthy, and strong no matter what’s happening in my life. This is me, on my back patio, doing my favorite yoga poses…

Tree Pose keeps me rooted in my wellness lifestyle.
Tree Pose reminds me to keep strong roots that let me move with the winds of change without fear of falling over.
Warrior Pose keeps me strong.
Warrior Pose (all 3 of them) connect me to my inner source for strength & resilience. I’m a peaceful warrior.
Dancer Pose brings gracefulness into my whole self.
Dancer Pose reminds me to live with grace, for myself and others. And that life is a beautiful dance.
Lotus Pose helps me meditate on the beauty of life.
Lotus Pose leads me to the stillness of meditation and reminds me that beauty can emerge from life’s messiness & pain.

Nature Lover

I’m blessed to have a wilderness park just a ten-minute drive from my house. I’m out on the trails at least twice a week. Some of my best inspirations come to me out in the quiet of nature, where I’m reminded I’m part of something much bigger than me. A web of life that’s vast and intricately balanced.

Hiking is a big part of my wellness lifestyle.
This is my favorite spot, a rock ledge high up on the trail. Perfect for meditation and a mid-hike rest.
Friederich Wilderness Park
My Texas hill-country hiking oasis. This land was preserved by a couple and donated for public use. I’m so thankful for their gift.

Keeping it Simple

Mornings start out for me on the back patio, where I’ve got a view of the sunrise. A cup of coffee mixed with the morning stillness and the chatter of birds sets the tone for a good day. It’s the perfect setting to practice gratitude. And to create my day with intention for my wellness lifestyle.

A Texas sunrise to inspire a wellness lifestyle.
I love to watch the sun rise. Every morning, a new work of art paints the sky to announce a fresh day filled with potentiality. This was my sunrise on 07/24/19.

I believe in keeping things simple and appreciating the little things. And in never underestimating the power of mindful breath. There are few stressful situations mindful breathing can’t soothe.

So now you know a little bit about me and how I came to write this blog. I look forward to hearing about you and your journey in my comments sections.
