A Bit About Me
I’ve worn a lot of hats in my life. While none of them define me, they’ve all contributed to my unique take on life.
Professionally, I’m a yoga instructor, yoga therapist (PRYT), meditation guide, and wellness writer. I founded and directed operations for the first holistic, neuroscience & mindfulness-based treatment center for addiction in Texas. I administered a holistic chiropractic wellness center. And, I founded an event production company that produces live music, yoga, and visual arts events to promote conscious evolution.
On a personal level, I’m a longtime practitioner of yoga, mindfulness, and meditation. I’m mother to a wonderful son, wife to my high school sweetheart, and adoring attendant to my little dog and three rescue cats (who’ve captured my heart while commandeering my home).
In all of these roles, and through all the ups, downs, and crazy twists of my life, I’ve come to value a simple truth. I might even call it my defining truth: happiness and wellness are sustained through conscious cultivation.
In other words, these desirable states of being don’t just fall into our laps and stay with us. They require consistent effort and intention. Even on the days when we don’t feel like it. Maybe especially on the days when we don’t feel like it.
But with regular cultivation, we really can walk through life with the peace of contentment, gratitude and joy. We can find our way through times of struggle with courage, faith, and resilience. We can feel good in body, mind and spirit day after day.
A Little Peek Into My Wellness Lifestyle…
I discovered yoga and meditation in my early twenties. I’m forty-eight now, so I’ve been on this journey for a long while. Yoga and meditation are what keep me balanced, happy, healthy, and strong no matter what’s happening in my life.
I’m blessed to have a wilderness park just a short drive from my house. I’m out on the trails at least twice a week. Some of my best inspirations come to me out in the quiet of nature, where I’m reminded I’m part of something much bigger than me. A web of life that’s vast and intricately balanced.
Keeping it Simple
I believe in keeping things simple and appreciating the little things. And in never underestimating the power of mindful breath. There are few stressful situations mindful breathing can’t soothe.
